Episode 31 - Star Wars The Last Jedi, 1970s action figures, Mego, Rush, and more!

On this episode of the When It Was Cool Podcast, host Karl Stern talks about the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi action figures that Tonya recently picked up for him. Also discussed is the big Top 100 Greatest Songs of Rush article and a bit of discussion about Rush the band.  Then there is a great email from a listener about random action figures that both he and us have collected over the years beyond the big ones like Star Wars, G.I. Joe, and more including M.A.S.H., Star Trek, Welcome Back Kotter, S.W.A.T., Battlestar Galactica, Mego, and more!

G.I. Joe is... dead. And I know exactly who to blame.

G.I. Joe is dead.  R.I.P.  Rest in Peace.  I have followed the property continuously since 1982 when I bought most of the first series "straight arms" off the shelf.  I read every issue of the Marvel Comics G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero comic book series straight off the shelf beginning at issue seven.  I was more a fan of the comics than of the Sunbow cartoon series but I have still seen every one of them.

Even through the "dark years" of the late 1990s when there weren't any G.I. Joe products on the shelf, I continued to be a fan, collecting figures off of eBay and flea markets.  I didn't even hate the movies.  Ok, the first one was a little rough, but I don't hate it.  I am as hardcore a G.I. Joe fan and collector as you will find.  While I'm not a famous or a well known member of the online community, I watch all the videos from the greats like FormBX257 and Hooded Cobra Commander 788.  I am a big fan of GIJoburg podcast, Joe on Joe, Star Joes

DragonKingKarl Long Form History of Pro Wrestling - Jump on here!

Today we are taking an intermission from the long form history of pro wrestling series to give people a spot to catch up or jump on. So far we have covered about 100 years of pro wrestling up to 1950 and today we do a summary of those first 100 years. We review who were the major names in pro wrestling from the Civil War until 1950. What order they came in. What the big events were and so on. This is an excellent point to start the series if you haven't yet and a great point to catch up if you have fallen behind. Karl Stern presents the long form history of pro wrestling.
